The Armed Forces of Ukraine need a little more time to prepare for the previously announced counter-offensive. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the BBC, published on Thursday, May 11.

“We can start attacking with what we have and achieve success. However, this way we will lose a lot of people. I consider this unacceptable,” Zelensky stressed.

The Ukrainian leader noted that Kyiv would have to wait a bit. He explained that although the brigades formed for the offensive are already fully prepared, the troops are still lacking “in some things.” In particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine require Western armored vehicles, which are now “arriving in batches,” Zelensky added.

Earlier, the White House reported that Ukraine allegedly got everything you need to launch a counter-offensive in the coming weeks and months. It is known that Kyiv would like to receive fighter jets from Western countries. However, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine would not wait for combat aircraft – the offensive could begin without them.

At the end of April, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced Kyiv’s readiness for a counteroffensive, but called the expectations of the allies too high. According to him, several options are currently being considered.
