Russian hockey player Alexander Alekseev will play for the Washington Capitals for another two years. The club signed such a contract with the defender.
According to the agreement, the Russian will earn $1.65 million ($775,000 in the 2023/24 season and $875,000 in the 2024/25 season). About this on Tuesday, May 2, writes NBC Sport.
Alekseev made 32 appearances for the team in the 2022-23 season. He scored a total of five points (all from assists).
The hockey player is 23 years old. During his playing career, he also played in the Ufa “Salavat Yulaev”. In 2019, as part of the youth team of the Russian Federation, he became the bronze medalist of the World Championship among players under 20 years old. In February 2021, the hockey player made his debut in the main team, playing at the Swedish stage of the Euro Hockey Tour.
Alekseev is not the first Russian in the current composition of the Washington Capitals. Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov also play for the team.
