According to the ER.ru website, United Russia and Victory Volunteers activists will give gifts to front-line soldiers and organize impromptu parades in the courtyards of their homes.
“Our dear veterans had to go through all the hardships of the war. Despite this, they persevered and won. We must pass on their experience, wisdom, memories to present and future generations. Today we have a unique opportunity to personally say “thank you” to the Heroes who saved a peaceful sky for us and defended our country,” said Olga Zanko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Chairman of the Victory Volunteers movement.
According to her, more and more young people tend to personally congratulate the veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
“Such meetings leave a mark on the heart forever, because only first-person stories can touch our feelings so deeply. After all, when you learn firsthand about the horrors that our people have experienced, you will do everything to prevent a repetition,” Olga Zanko said.
Also, activists of United Russia and Volunteers of Victory organize flower laying at memorials and mass graves of participants in the Great Patriotic War in the regions. Volunteers will collect information from veterans who cannot honor the memory of their colleagues on their own, and do it for them.
In addition, everyone will be able to write letters to veterans, and the Victory Volunteers will deliver them to the recipients. Also, activists of the party and the “Young Guard of United Russia” will help the participants and invalids of the Great Patriotic War in cleaning the adjacent territories and plant flower beds under the windows of their houses.
In addition, United Russia and Victory Volunteers are improving monuments and memorials throughout the country dedicated to the heroes and events of that time, as well as military burials.
Alexander Chursanov, coordinator of the party project “Historical Memory” in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug:
– On the eve of the holiday and on Victory Day, the Nenets regional branch of United Russia holds several actions. Party members will lay flowers and wreaths at the monuments of the Great Patriotic War as a sign of immense respect for the victorious heroes. There are very few living witnesses of that terrible war left in our district. Valentina Iosifovna Kotkina – a resident of besieged Leningrad and Angelina Ivanovna Tarasova – a participant in the Great Patriotic War. Like every year, together with party activists and Victory volunteers, we will hold the traditional Gift to a Veteran campaign and visit our dear veterans. The regional branch of United Russia is actively preparing for the action “Parade at the Veteran’s House”, in which children from the Arktika Palace of Culture will take part.
