The American authorities are not going to follow the example of Great Britain and supply long-range missiles to Ukraine. We are talking about ATACMS missiles. Politico writes about this on May 9, citing its sources.
Newspaper notesthat London intends to transfer to Kyiv missiles with a range of 100 km to 300 km, which are similar in their characteristics to the American ATACMS. Politico’s interlocutors said the United States has decided not to send such weapons to Ukrainians because the UK plans to do so. At the same time, the source of the publication explained that agreeing to the supplies, the British authorities set a condition for Ukraine – such missiles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can only be used on Ukrainian territory.
Another source emphasized that the US policy regarding the supply of ATACMS has not changed. He added that the States will continue to send Patriot complexes, armored vehicles and ammunition to Kyiv, but not ATACMS.
Ukraine previously more than once turned to Washington with a request to transfer ATACMS to her, but the United States has not yet satisfied her. The chief military adviser to the President of the United States, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, previously explained that the country has a small stock of such missiles, which is also why the States cannot provide them to Kyiv.
