White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre commented on Kyiv’s attempt to attack the Kremlin residence of the President of the Russian Federation with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). She assured that the US administration does not encourage Ukraine to strike at Russia.
“Since the beginning of this conflict, the United States has certainly not encouraged, enabled or allowed Ukraine to strike outside its borders,” Jean-Pierre said at a briefing on Wednesday, May 3. Her words quotes TASS.
Washington has been clear about this, the White House official said. At the same time, she noted that the States could not yet confirm the details of reports of an attack on the Kremlin. “I would not like to speculate about the veracity of these reports,” Jean-Pierre summed up.
The Kremlin previously reported that on the night of May 3, Ukraine aimed two drones at the residence of the President of the Russian Federation, which tried to strike. It was noted that the UAVs were eliminated. Moscow regarded the incident as an assassination attempt on the head of state and reserved the right to take retaliatory measures. At the same time, Kyiv denied the involvement of the Ukrainian side in the incident.
According to CNN, the United States did not warn about trying to attack Kremlin drones. The American authorities are still trying to find out exactly what happened, and are working to assess the claims of the Russian Federation to Ukraine.
