Soldiers of the Grad multiple rocket launcher crews of the Central Military District used campaign shells in the zone of a special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian military dropped leaflets calling for Ukrainian troops to surrender. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on May 17.
“Before launching artillery strikes, the servicemen carried out a leafleting of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with calls to lay down their arms and surrender, saving their lives,” the military department explained. Ministry representative quotes RIA News.
Campaign shells for the BM-21 are a rocket projectile with a warhead. Instead of damaging elements and explosives, rolls with more than one thousand leaflets are put into it.
The leaflets call on the Ukrainian military to surrender voluntarily and call on their colleagues to do so. The Russian Ministry of Defense expressed the hope that this could help prevent senseless bloodshed in further battles.
