Kyiv is not going to wait for the likely supply of F-16 fighters from Western supporters. The counteroffensive will begin without these aircraft, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has said. His quotes RBC on Saturday, April 29.
“We will start before we have F-16s or anything else,” the Ukrainian President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also added that without the supply of Western fighters, it would be more difficult for the military of Ukraine to conduct combat operations. The President believes that this technique could reduce the number of casualties on the battlefield.
Kyiv has repeatedly asked Western countries for the supply of combat aircraft. The Baltic countries support this request. Germany opposes, refused to supply fighters and the US President.
However, on April 28, it became known that a number of congressmen were putting pressure on the head of the White House with a demand to start deliveries of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Political figures from the Republican and Democratic parties also believe that the United States should start delivering to Kyiv and long-range ATACMS missiles.
