The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) is not going to change the colors of the party coat of arms due to accusations of some citizens of similarity with the flag of Ukraine, State Duma deputy from the LDPR Yaroslav Nilov said on May 17.

Earlier, State Duma Vice Speaker Vladislav Davankov called on the Russian Interior Ministry to clarify that the combination of yellow and blue colors is not grounds for detention.

“The absurd situation, when the issue of using colors in the clothes of our citizens is being discussed, has already reached the point where they begin to accuse the Liberal Democratic Party of having the colors that are contained in the Ukrainian flag,” quotes Nilova RIA Novosti.

The deputy stressed that the provisions on the anthem and coat of arms are fixed in the party charter. According to him, now a special campaign has begun against members of the Liberal Democratic Party who use party paraphernalia.

Citizens are required to bring to administrative responsibility for the yellow and blue colors. Nilov recalled that the Liberal Democratic Party was founded 34 years ago, this happened before the declaration of independence of Ukraine and the approval of its state symbols.

The LDPR is the successor to the Liberal Democratic Party of the Soviet Union (LDPSS), founded on December 13, 1989. Candidates from the Liberal Democratic Party participated in all elections to the State Duma.
