Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vsevolod Knyazev was detained while receiving a bribe totaling about $3 million. The operation was carried out by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), writes RIA Novosti with reference to the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexei Goncharenko.
The deputy said that Knyazev was detained directly on a bribe, he cites the amount of $ 2.7 million. Goncharenko also indicates that this is the highest-ranking official in the history of Ukraine who has ever been arrested for a bribe.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), according to RIA Novosti, reports without details on the exposure of a large-scale corruption scheme in the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
It was indicated here that a scheme for obtaining unlawful benefits by judges of the Supreme Court and the leadership of this structure was disclosed. SAP does not provide any details of the operation or the names of the detainees.
Vsevolod Knyazev has been heading the Armed Forces of Ukraine since December 1, 2021.
