At least a 10-fold increase in fines for violation of traffic rules on electric scooters is proposed in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. This was told by a member of the constitutional committee of the Federation Council Artem Sheikin.

According to him, the current fine of 1,500 rubles does not correspond to modern realities. About it informs May 5 RIA Novosti.

“Perhaps, for the situation in 2007, when this amount was set, this was enough, but now it is necessary to increase it at least 10 times,” he said.

According to the senator, in order to do this, it is necessary to make changes “to articles 12.29-12.30 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.” He stressed that the legal regulation of electric scooters needs to be improved in terms of increasing liability for offenses.

Formerly deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation proposed to oblige owners of means of individual mobility to register them with the traffic police and receive state registration marks. In addition, within the framework of the new legislative initiative, it is possible to change the traffic rules and prescribe fines for the owners of such vehicles, the parliamentarians believe.
