The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the second reading a draft law on the unclaimed appointment of insurance and social pensions in the event of loss of a breadwinner, as well as a social pension for children whose both parents are unknown, writes on May 16 RIA News.
The bill proposes to accrue such payments from the day of the death of the breadwinner on the basis of information available to the body involved in pension provision. The text of the explanatory note states that the decision on the appointment of such pensions should be made within a period of no more than five working days. It is also clarified that persons who have grounds for receiving both insurance and social pensions will receive one, which will be more profitable.
In addition, several amendments were approved at the plenary session of the lower house of parliament on May 16. In particular, it is proposed to clarify the concept of “disabled citizens”. It is proposed to include in this category children who have reached the age of 18 and have completed their studies in the programs of basic general or secondary general education, for the period up to September 1 of the year in which the studies were completed.
In April, social pensions in Russia indexed by 3.3%which ensured their growth above the rate of inflation. In general, over the year, the amount of social pensions will increase by 13.6%; almost 16 billion rubles.
