The situation with fires in the Sverdlovsk region is critical. Assistance was requested at the federal level. This was announced by the governor of the region Evgeny Kuyvashev, his quotes official Telegram channel of the Department of Regional Information Policy.
As the governor explained, several factors exacerbated the situation with the fires. Among other things, the head of the region listed a winter with little snow, smoldering peat bogs, a hot spring and strong winds. Kuyvashev noted that at the moment the region is not able to cope with all the fires with its own means.
“We have requested federal assistance. From tomorrow morning planes of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, helicopters of the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard and Avialesokhrana will operate in the region. Other regions are also helping us – the Arkhangelsk Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory,” said Evgeny Kuyvashev, Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region.
In addition, the head of the region called for help in the fight against fires and local residents. He indicated that now “more people are needed … to organize the delivery of water and equipment.”
“The mayor of each territory where there are fires should urgently appoint a place for the gathering of volunteers and disseminate information in all popular groups of the city in social networks, and organize training and instruction at the place of gathering,” Kuyvashev summed up.
Saturday evening, May 6, in the Sverdlovsk region gunpowder warehouses on fireexplosions were heard. The authorities are evacuating the village of Pervomaisky, located next to the warehouses, by now the fire has destroyed two warehouses, three have been saved.
