More than 54.1 thousand hectares of forests are burning in the Sverdlovsk region, more than 4.8 thousand specialists are extinguishing natural fires in the region. This was announced on Monday, May 8, in the department of information policy of the region.

“10 fires were eliminated in the region on an area of ​​more than 4 thousand hectares. In total, in the Middle Urals at 09:00 (07:00 Moscow time), more than 54,157 hectares of forest were engulfed in fire – 64 fires are active, 16 of them are localized,” the statement said. which leads TASS.

The department also added that specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, aviation forest protection, forestries, employees of municipalities, and tenants are working on forest fires. Over 500 units of special equipment were involved, including Il-76 and Be-200 aircraft, Mi-8 helicopters. About 6,000 volunteers help the specialists.

The area of ​​forest fires in the Sverdlovsk region, according to the latest data at the end of May 6, was more than 33 thousand hectares, and the group of specialists fighting fires was 2.5 thousand people.

On the morning of May 7, due to the situation with natural fires in several villages of the Sverdlovsk region, an emergency regime was introduced. By the evening of the same day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that the situation with large-scale forest fires the region is stabilizingand the threat of the spread of fire to settlements was eliminated.
