Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, after defeating British boxer John Ryder on May 7, said he wants to have a rematch with Russian Dmitry Bivol. Alvarez’s fight with Ryder ended with a unanimous decision in favor of the Mexican fighter. With the win, Alvarez retained his IBF, WBC, WBA Super, WBO and The Ring titles.
“Everyone knows that we want a rematch with Bivol. Same rules, same conditions, everything is the same,” quotes Mexican RIA Novosti.
The fight between Bivol and Alvarez took place in May 2022. Canelo lost to the Russian and could not get the WBA Super light heavyweight championship belt.
Now 32-year-old Alvarez has 59 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws. Bivol is the same age as the Mexican, he entered the ring 21 times, he did not lose a single fight. At the same time, 11 meetings ended in a knockout.
Bivol stated in January that ready to fight with a boxer from any country, including Ukraine. According to him, the opponent must be treated with respect, regardless of which state he represents.
