In the Moscow region, the repetition of severe frosts, which were during the May holidays, when the temperature dropped to minus 4°C, is not expected. Therefore, now is the time to actively engage in gardening and gardening. This forecast was given by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand, transmits Interfax.
At the same time, the forecaster stressed that frosts will still be in May and even in early June, but they will not negatively affect garden crops. “I refer to statistics that show that during the current century, frosts were observed six times in early June in the Moscow region. Still, this is not uncommon, but they are small,” Roman Vilfand said.
According to him, such a temperature background, which was established last weekend and on Monday, that is, during the May holidays, is very rare. They were long and quite intense.
Roman Vilfand also added that the last May 6 in Moscow and the Moscow region was among the three coldest in the history of meteorological observations. Such weather happens once every 45-50 years, the forecaster said.
In Moscow ended the longest period of May frosts in the 21st century. They continued for four days. And the night from 7 to 8 May became the coldest in the capital since the beginning of April.
