Scientists from Russia have created an artificial cornea of the eye, the development belongs to specialists from Sechenov University. About this on Wednesday, May 17, write “News”.
It is noted that immediately after the tests, the technology is planned to be used to restore vision in humans.
The first operations with an artificial cornea are going to be carried out in veterinary medicine. According to the assumptions of scientists, transplantation will help restore vision after injuries.
At the end of last year reportedthat scientists in Russia have developed a technology for the production of implants designed to restore a damaged cornea. The safety and effectiveness of the collagen membrane for the regeneration of this tissue was confirmed by experts from the Sechenov University, the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” and the company “Imtek”.
