The Russian side has not yet seen “on paper” proposals from Latin American and African partners for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
The Foreign Minister said that Russia had responded to the appeals of Latin American and African partners and was ready to consider their proposals to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. “So far, unlike our Chinese neighbors, we haven’t seen anything on paper either from the Brazilians or the Africans,” Lavrov said. On May 16, the President of South Africa announced that, on behalf of the states of Africa negotiated with the heads of Russia and Ukraine, and they agreed to accept the mission of the African leaders on the peace initiative. The Kremlin confirmed the fact of the conversation between the presidents of the Russian Federation and South Africa. It was noted that the head of Russia supported the idea voiced by his colleague of the participation of a group of African leaders in discussing the possibilities of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
