Gazprom Neft and Glavrybvod signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of restoration of aquatic biological resources. The oil workers will help replenish the populations of valuable, rare and endangered fish species in Russian rivers and lakes.

The multi-year program includes reservoirs in the regions where the company operates, including the Arkhangelsk region.

In accordance with the signed agreement, Gazpromneft-Razvitie will become the sole operator of the program. The enterprise will represent the interests of more than 10 subsidiaries of Gazprom Neft in the field of exploration and production of hydrocarbons.

— All projects of Gazprom Neft are implemented taking into account the peculiarities of the ecosystems of the regions where the company operates. We introduce technologies that allow us to conduct exploration and production not only efficiently, but also safely for humans and nature. Strengthening partnership with Glavrybvod will expand the planning horizon of our environmental initiatives and increase the population of valuable fish in the water bodies of the European and Siberian parts of our country,” commented Aidar Sarvarov, Head of the Directorate for Large Projects of Gazprom Neft, General Director of Gazpromneft-Razvitiya.

In 2023 alone, according to the program, more than 5.4 million fish fry – Siberian sturgeon, nelma, chum salmon, carp and Atlantic salmon – will be released into reservoirs.

The implementation of joint measures with Glavrybvod will increase the efficiency of Gazprom Neft’s environmental projects to replenish valuable fish. Glavrybvod is the largest organization in Russia in the field of conservation of aquatic biological resources. It includes 106 fish farms.

– As you know, the natural reproduction of fish today is not enough, so artificial stocking is very important. The release of fry is necessary both for the ecological balance, and for increasing the productivity of water bodies, and simply for local residents – consumers of the product. Thanks to such a reliable partner as Gazprom Neft, which is systematically working to preserve biological diversity in water bodies, together we are making a great contribution to strategic state programs to preserve the population of valuable fish species,” said Rodion Sukhin, production director at Glavrybvod.

In addition to the Arkhangelsk Region, the program includes the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, the Tyumen, Sakhalin, Tomsk and Orenburg Regions.
