Poland plans to strengthen border security in the Kaliningrad region. For this, modern devices will be used, announced Saturday, April 29, the head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki.
Also, armed units will be deployed on the border with the Russian Federation, he said. According to Morawiecki, they will ensure the strengthening of the security of the citizens of the republic. About it informs Polish Radio.
“On the Polish-Russian border, we will ensure the same security as previously on the border with Belarus,” the Polish prime minister emphasized. Physical and electronic barriers will be installed along the entire border with Russia, Morawiecki concluded.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland reported in mid-April about the start of construction on the border with the Kaliningrad region of the electronic barrier, which will be “unprecedented in its modernity.” It will be equipped with day and night vision cameras, as well as motion sensors.
The Polish Border Guard added that the fence will stretch for almost 200 km. It is planned that all work will be completed by the fall of 2023.
In October last year, Poland completed the construction of a barrier on the border with Belarus. The length of the five-meter-high fence is 186 km.
