Firefighters localized nine out of 13 sources of fires in the Kurgan region. This was announced on Monday, May 8, by the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.
Together with the governor of the region Vadim Shumkov and the head of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the region, Yuri Zemlyansky, he flew around the areas where the situation was especially difficult, transmits TASS. As Kurenkov pointed out, six of the nine fires that threatened the settlements of the Kurgan region were localized. Eight more fires have also been put out over the past day.
The total group involved in extinguishing natural fires in the region amounted to 1290 people and 332 pieces of equipment. Aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia operates in the Kurgan region. She dumped 165 tons of water on the fires.
Earlier, a special flight of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Alexander Kurenkov landed in Kurgan. The minister arrived in the region for coordination elimination of natural fires.
Large-scale fires broke out in the Kurgan region on May 7. Throughout the region introduced emergency mode. The evacuation of residents of a number of villages and towns has been announced. Three people are known to have died in the fires. Six more people were hospitalized with burns.
