State Secretary of the Union State (SG) of Russia and Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev said that during the period of the agreement on the creation of the SG, 82 union programs worth 52.7 billion rubles were implemented, writes on May 13 RIA News.

Mezentsev noted that the programs were implemented in the areas of electronics, healthcare, and materials science.

“I want to focus on the field of outer space exploration,” the State Secretary of the SG pointed out.

Mezentsev stressed that a Russian-Belarusian satellite for remote sensing of the earth is already operating in orbit, plans to launch another one with an improved image resolution, the data from which will be used both in the national economy of the allied states, and there and the power block of the two countries.

The Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State was signed on December 8, 1999. The document entered into force on January 26, 2000. It provides for the formation of a single economic space, a legal system, implies the harmonization of trade policy and the transition to a common currency.

Earlier on May 13, Mezentsev said that the union treaty signed by Moscow and Minsk determined the future in interaction between the two countries.
