The Pentagon is investigating the leak of classified documents on the conflict in Ukraine describing the state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

This is reported by The New York Times, citing a representative of the department.

It is noted that the documents dated early March also contain information about the plans of the United States and NATO to strengthen the Ukrainian army.

According to the publication, they are allegedly distributed by Russian pro-government Telegram channels.

In particular, one of the documents labeled “top secret” describes “the status of the conflict as of March 1.”

Another of them contains brief information about 12 emerging Ukrainian brigades.

It is assumed that nine of them are trained and supplied by the US and NATO.

So, according to the document, it is expected that six of these nine brigades will be ready by March 31, and the rest by April 30.

In addition, the need for more than 250 tanks and 350 infantry fighting vehicles for these formations is indicated.

Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said the agency is aware of the publications.

Our department is looking into this matter.”

she added.

Earlier it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) prepared assault brigades with a total number of 40,000 fighters for the counteroffensive.

According to Reuters, in total, Ukraine managed to recruit eight assault brigades.
