Man stabs two schoolgirls in Berlin
A man armed with a knife wounded two girls on the premises of a school in the Berlin Neukölln district on Mainzerstrasse. The criminal has already been arrested by the police, informs Berliner Zeitung on Wednesday 3rd May.
A seven-year-old and an eight-year-old girl were injured. One of them is in critical condition, both are hospitalized. According to the Berliner Zeitung, at first the attacker was in front of the school yard. Seeing the schoolgirls, he suddenly rushed towards them and began to beat them with a knife.
Witnesses to the incident called the police. As a result, a 39-year-old man was detained near the crime scene. Witnesses of the incident specified that he calmly waited for law enforcement officers and did not attempt to escape.
The territory of the school was cordoned off by emergency services, forensics seized evidence at the crime scene. The perpetrator’s motives are unknown. Representatives of the Department of Education of Berlin do not believe that this is an attack for political or religious reasons.
Local publication Moz.de with reference to own sources writesthat the perpetrator did not know the victims. Previously, the man has signs of mental illness.
