In the Nizhny Novgorod region, law enforcement officers are looking for two men on suspicion of involvement in the explosion of the car of Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin. About this on Saturday, May 6, told “Interfax” in emergency services.
“During a trip to the village of Pionerskoye, Prilepin made several stops on the highway. During one of them, a security guard noticed and frightened off unknown men near his car,” the source said. According to him, the unidentified people got into their car and drove off.
They could follow the writer and plant an explosive device under the bottom of his car, the emergency services specified.
Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin reported that law enforcement agencies are now establishing the circumstances of the incident.
On the afternoon of May 6, unidentified people blew up Prilepin’s car in the Nizhny Novgorod region. He survived but was injured. Now Prilepin is conscious. He was hospitalized with injuries to both legs. The writer’s driver died, police said.
Prilepin, 47, is a member of the central headquarters of the All-Russian Popular Front. Since February 2022, he has been under personal sanctions from the European Union and Great Britain.
