A jury in New York found former United States President Donald Trump guilty in the case of attempted rape of journalist Jean Carroll. This was reported on May 9 by CNN.

By information channel, the jury found that in 1996, Trump molested Carroll, but there was no rape. The court ruled that the former head of the United States must pay $ 2 million in compensation to repair damages for harassment as part of the settlement of a civil lawsuit. In addition, Trump will have to pay another $ 3 million for defamation of a journalist and damage to her reputation.

Trump has already called the jury’s decision in his case a disgrace and a witch hunt. He wrote on the social network Truth Social that he does not know at all “who this woman is.”

Hearings in the Carroll case began at the end of April 2023. Trump has repeatedly said that such lawsuits against him are politically motivated. He called the accusations against him false, and suggested that in this way the journalist tried to sell her new book. After that, Carroll sued the politician for damage to her reputation.
