On Sunday, the Immortal Regiment action will be held in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. This was stated by the initiator of the event, head of the Chita branch of the Volunteers of Donbass Foundation Andrey Petrov.

He said that the procession in the capital of Mongolia will begin on Sunday at 10:00 local time (5:00 Moscow time). Participants of the action will walk along Zhukov Square and its environs. About this on Saturday, May 6, writes RIA News.

According to him, there is a public organization “Friends of Novorossiya” in the country, which includes a large number of Mongolians who lived or studied in the Soviet Union, including in the Donbass. He clarified that members of the organization, which consists of several thousand people, helped organize the “Immortal Regiment” action in the capital of Mongolia, having received permission from local authorities.

“In Russia now, the Immortal Regiment cannot be carried out for security reasons,” Petrov recalled.

He also stressed that the Mongolian government is aware of the large number of citizens who want friendly relations with Russia. Therefore, Petrov pointed out, Ulaanbaatar gave permission to hold the Immortal Regiment action. In addition, he noted the support of the Russian Embassy in Mongolia.

Earlier, the co-chair of the Central Headquarters of the Immortal Regiment of Russia movement announced that a decision had been made no march this year in the traditional face-to-face format. The organizers of the action offered the Russians to post photos of their veteran relatives in social networks, on clothes, on a car and on the website of the movement. So, for example, the face-to-face procession was canceled in Bryansk, Zaporozhye, Pskov, Novosibirsk and other regions of Russia.

“Immortal Regiment” is a public civil-patriotic movement. The goal is to preserve the personal memory of the generation of the Great Patriotic War. Every year on Victory Day, participants in the action march in a column through the streets of cities with photographs of their relatives who fought at the front, were underground fighters, Resistance fighters, home front workers, prisoners of concentration camps, blockade survivors, and children of war. The first march took place in 2012.
