The status of Russians having many children should be extended until the end of full-time education of older children or their employment for work during training. The corresponding proposal was made by State Duma deputy Irina Filatova, reports on Tuesday, May 16, RIA News.
At the moment, a unified approach to determining the status of a large family is not fixed at the legislative level in the Russian Federation. Regions have the right to independently determine the criteria for large families. At the same time, Elena Semenova, Deputy Director of the Department of Demographic Policy, clarified during the round table that the Ministry of Labor proposes that families with at least three minor children be considered large families.
“Indeed, it is necessary to determine a unified approach to establishing the status, guarantees for large families. We believe it is right if it is determined that a large family is a family that brings up three or more minor children,” she said.
However, Filatova stressed that, although according to the Constitution, a child becomes an adult at the age of 18, this has “absolutely nothing to do with financial independence.”
