In Ghana proposed to hold a friendly match against Russia
President of the Ghana Football Association (Ghana Football Association) Kurt Okraru said on May 18 that he was ready to organize a friendly match with the Russian national team.
“Negotiations with the Russian Football Union are not ongoing, but we have a desire to organize a meeting in Ghana,” leads words to Okraru Sport24.
In February 2022, FIFA and UEFA suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in international competitions for an indefinite period. After the imposition of sanctions, the Russian national football team played friendly matches with the teams of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Iraq.
Football players from Russia and Ghana first met in September 2016. Friendly game was held at the capital’s stadium “Locomotive”. The game ended with the victory of the Russians (1:0).
The Ghana Football Association was organized in 1957. In 1975 the association became a member of the West African Football Union. Under the auspices of the association, women’s and men’s football championships are held.
