Croque madam sandwich

Sandwich “Croc Madam” – a delicious dish that is suitable for breakfast. Making such a sandwich is simple, and it will take no more than 30 minutes to prepare it.

Required Ingredients:

  • white bread (toast) – 4 slices;
  • hard cheese – 100 g;
  • ham – 4-6 slices;
  • Dijon mustard – 1 tsp;
  • butter – 40 g;
  • eggs – 2 pcs.;
  • wheat flour – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • milk – 100 ml.

How to make Croque Madame Sandwich:

  1. Prepare the necessary ingredients. Milk is suitable for any fat content. Oil is best used with a fat content of at least 72%. Mustard should not be spicy. The French recipe uses Gruyere cheese, but other cheeses can be used.
  2. Melt some of the butter in a small frying pan or heavy bottomed saucepan. It is recommended to do this on low heat.
  3. When the butter has melted, add the flour. Mix thoroughly with a whisk. Keep it on fire for a bit.
  4. Slowly pour in the milk. Mix all the ingredients so that there are no lumps of flour left.
  5. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens, stirring constantly. If desired, you can add a small amount of salt.
  6. Prepare ingredients for making sandwiches.
  7. Spread two slices of white bread with soft butter. Apply a layer of mustard on top of the oil.
  8. Grate the cheese on a fine grater and add it to the bread.
  9. Lay slices of ham on a layer of grated cheese. If the slices are thin, then they can be folded in half.
  10. You can add a small amount of cheese on top of the ham. Cover with second piece of bread.
  11. Preheat oven to 180–200°C. Lay parchment on a baking sheet. Lay out the sandwiches.
  12. Send to the oven for about five to seven minutes. The bread should be golden brown and the cheese should be melted.
  13. While the sandwiches are baking, prepare the fried eggs. It is better to use a portion pan. On it, the scrambled eggs will turn out even. A regular sized pan will do. It is important that the yolk remains whole and liquid, and the protein is completely seized. Add salt and ground black pepper if desired.
  14. Take the sandwiches out of the oven. Spread the sandwiches with the resulting sauce. Sprinkle cheese on top and put in the oven for a couple more minutes.
  15. Remove from oven and place scrambled eggs on top of sandwiches.
  16. Sandwich “Croc Madame” is ready. The dish can be served at the table. Recommended to be consumed hot.
