Beijing should take a clear position on the conflict in Ukraine. This opinion is shared by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock.
“As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has a special responsibility for ensuring world peace,” the minister said. Her words on Wednesday, May 10, leads TASS.
According to Burbock, if the Russian Federation withdraws its troops from Ukraine, peace will be restored. However, she believes that if Ukraine ceases to defend itself, then the country “will come to an end and the UN Charter too.”
At the end of April, the President of China spoke by telephone with the President of Ukraine. The Chinese leader noted that Beijing is in the Ukrainian crisis “always been on the side of the world”. China intends to send a representative to Ukraine and other countries for consultations on a political settlement of the crisis.
At the end of February China presented a plan settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The PRC called on the parties to stop hostilities and resume peace talks. The initiative also includes abandoning the Cold War mentality, respecting the sovereignty of all countries, and ending unilateral sanctions.
