The French authorities expressed their readiness to sell new generation nuclear reactors to Uzbekistan for the nuclear power plant under construction, which will be the first in the country. This was announced on Saturday, May 6, by French Minister-Delegate Olivier Becht, writes the Uzbek edition “Newspaper“.

“Now we are producing new generation reactors. And if the Uzbek side is interested and requests, we can present these reactors,” he said.

According to Becht, France has built 56 nuclear reactors so far and continues to invest heavily in this area. However, he stressed that during the visit of the delegation to Tashkent, not nuclear, but “green” energy, the installation of solar panels and hydropower were discussed.

Becht also recalled that French President Emmanuel Macron plans to visit Uzbekistan in 2023.
