Over the past day, forest fire services and involved persons extinguished 174 forest fires in 27 regions of Russia. The area of extinguished fires covered by fire is 28.101 ha.

Over the past day, forest fires have been eliminated, including in regions in the European part of the country. Among them are Moscow, Smolensk, Samara, Pskov, Kurgan, Novgorod regions.
The department notes that as of 00:00 on May 9, there were 139 forest fires in 20 regions of the Russian Federation. The area covered by fire was 121.548 ha.
The largest number of forest fires – 62 – was noted in the Sverdlovsk region. The area covered by fire there reached 77.318 hectares.
The situation with natural fires escalated in a number of regions of the Russian Federation in late April – early May. The situation is especially difficult in the Urals and Siberia. State of emergency introduced due to fires in the Omsk, Tyumen, Kurgan regions, in forests, as well as in a number of municipalities and settlements of the Sverdlovsk region.
