Football club “Ferencváros” ahead of schedule won the Hungarian football championship under the leadership of Stanislav Cherchesov.
On Friday, May 5, “Kecskemét”, which occupies the second line in the standings of the championship, lost to the club “Honved” in the match of the 30th round. The meeting ended with the score 0:1. The 59-year-old former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov took charge of this Hungarian club in December 2021. Under his leadership, Ferencvaros became the national champion for the second time. The club also won the Hungarian Cup last season.
“Ferencvaros” extended the contract with Stanislav Cherchesov for one season this April. The coach then announced the club’s plans to successfully complete the Hungarian Championship. After the end of the tournament, Cherchesov wants to negotiate with the leadership to strengthen the team.
Cherchesov previously coached Spartak and Dynamo in Russia. As the head coach of the Russian national team, Cherchesov reached the quarterfinals of the home world championship in 2018.
