This year, there will be no cardinal changes in the admission campaign to universities, but they will begin in 2024. This was announced on Thursday, April 27, by the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, during a press conference dedicated to the admission campaign.
“This year, everything will be held according to well-known rules, there will be no drastic changes, all cardinal changes will follow in the 2024 admission campaign,” the minister said.
He also added that changes in the process of admission to universities, which are associated with the transition to a new system of higher education in the country, are also not expected this year. This also applies to the set of subjects for passing the exam, writes RIA News. According to Falkov, in 2023, graduates will be able to enter all the same areas and specialties, and all the same programs that were announced in the fall of 2022.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Science plans to start testing the new system of higher education already this year, this will affect several universities. “In order to see how these approaches and new developments are being implemented, it is important to always conduct a pilot test at several universities. It is desirable that these be universities from different regions, different universities – technical, classical universities,” he explained.
In addition, Falkov said that 36,194 state-funded places out of 620,278 were allocated to universities in new Russian regions for the upcoming academic year.
Earlier, Falkov told about the new system of higher educationwhich is planned to be introduced in Russia. The Minister specified that it would be divided into three stages. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science intends to revise the lists of higher education specialties.
