Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of the Republican People’s Party and Turkish presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, said that if he wins, he is going to resume the negotiations on Turkey’s accession to the European Union. About it writes Financial Times (FT).

Having come to power, Kilychdaroglu plans to immediately take measures to start negotiations on the European integration of the republic. He also said that he was going to work on restoring democratic institutions and solving economic problems in the country.

In a conversation with the newspaper, the politician explained that Turkey will continue to maintain economic relations with Russia. However, neither Kılıçdaroğlu himself nor his supporters consider it correct that the Russian Federation launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu officially put forward united opposition to Turkey. He is the only candidate from the “People’s Alliance”. The current Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan will act as an opponent to Kılıçdaroğlu.

On May 14, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in the republic. The second round of presidential elections, if needed, will be held on May 28.
