Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he has no plans to hold rallies in preparation for the second round of presidential elections on May 28. At the end of the week, the head of state intends to visit the area where powerful earthquakes occurred in February this year.
“On Saturday-Sunday, I plan to go to the February earthquake zone, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahceli said that he might go with me, we will hold a series of public meetings there,” Erdogan said. His words on Tuesday, May 16, quotes RIA News.
The first round of presidential elections in Turkey took place on May 14. Three candidates appeared on the ballots – Erdogan, a candidate from the opposition “People’s Alliance” and a candidate from the “Alliance ATA” (“Alliance of Ancestors”). None of them managed to get more than 50% of the votes.
