The crew of the Naryan-Mar United Aviation Squad, together with the rescuers of the KU NAO “Search and Rescue Service” and the paramedics of the ambulance department of the Nenets Regional Hospital, carried out the most difficult evacuation in the Barents Sea the day before.
The Mi-8 helicopter took off from Naryan-Mar at 4:50 p.m., the Naryan-Mar United Air Squadron reported. After a training descent on the territory of the airfield, the crew headed for the Barents Sea. By 18.00 they flew to the island of Kolguev, where at that time the fishing vessel “Chernigov” was drifting. Earlier, there was a message from there that one of the sailors needed medical help.

– The evacuation was complicated by the design features of the vessel – there was a very small platform for landing. Also, there was frost on the ship’s hull and the rescuers had to work in conditions of strong pitching. The operation to lift the patient on board the helicopter lasted 27 minutes. A special basket was used for evacuation. As soon as the sailor was lifted into the helicopter, the paramedics immediately began to provide assistance, the Naryan-Mar United Air Squadron reported.
The helicopter landed in Naryan-Mar at 19.14 and the sailor was promptly taken to the Nenets district hospital.
