A criminal case was opened on the fact of blowing up the car of the Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was announced on Saturday, May 6, by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) Svetlana Petrenko.

Her comment published in the department’s Telegram channel. On behalf of its chairman Alexander Bastrykin, forensic investigators from the central office of the Investigative Committee were sent to the scene of the explosion, Petrenko specified. According to her, Prilepin was in the car with his family.

As writes RIA News citing a source in power structures, Prilepin received fractures. He was also diagnosed with a concussion.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the car explosion happened in one of the villages of the Borsky district. The man accompanying Prilepin died. An investigation is now underway and all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.

As Interfax previously reported with reference to emergency services, law enforcement officers in the Nizhny Novgorod region looking for two men on suspicion of involvement in the explosion of Prilepin’s car. According to the interlocutor of the publication, during the trip to the village of Pioneer, the writer made several stops on the highway. During one of them at his car, a security guard noticed and frightened off two men.

Prilepin, 47, is a member of the central headquarters of the All-Russian Popular Front. In January, it was reported that the writer signed a contract with the National Guard and went to the zone of a special military operation in Ukraine.
