There is no panacea for resolving the crisis in Ukraine; all parties to the conflict must create conditions for negotiations. This was announced by China’s Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui during a meeting with the Ukrainian authorities. The diplomat’s statement was published on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday, May 18, reports RIA News.

“All parties should build up mutual trust and create conditions for peaceful negotiations,” Li Hui stressed.

It is noted that during the talks, the Special Representative of the People’s Republic of China outlined to Kyiv Beijing’s position regarding a political solution to the crisis. According to him, China is ready to assist in the formation of a “greatest common denominator” that will help resolve the problem on the basis of the Chinese position outlined earlier, and make efforts to restore peace as soon as possible.

Li Hui visited Ukraine on May 16-17. The Chinese Special Representative held meetings with Volodymyr Zelensky, head of his office Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, as well as officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Energy. The parties exchanged views on the problem of a political settlement of the conflict and Chinese-Ukrainian relations.
