Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby placed a crown on the head of Charles III. About it writes Saturday, May 6, Guardian. Thus, the British monarch is officially crowned in Westminster Abbey in London.
The first to pay tribute to Charles III was the Archbishop of Canterbury. He knelt before the king and said that he would be loyal to the monarch.
According to the publication, a number of religious leaders said prayers. Among them was the English cardinal, Archbishop of Westminster Vincent Nichols.
Before the laying on of the crown, Charles III was presented with the royal regalia. Among them are an orb, a scepter with a cross, a scepter with a dove, and a ring of the sovereign.
Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain died on September 8, 2022 in Scotland. She was 96 years old. Prince Charles became king, taking the name Charles III.
