Belarusian border guards have begun monitoring the situation on six roads on the border with Russia in preparation for the implementation of the Belarusian-Russian agreement on the mutual recognition of visas, writes May 5 RIA Novosti with reference to the State Border Committee of Belarus.

“On May 5, the border service authorities began monitoring the situation in the Belarusian-Russian section on six main road routes,” the agency told reporters, noting that checks can be carried out in relation to persons and vehicles.

Earlier, information appeared on social networks that Belarusian checkpoints appeared on some roads between Russia and Belarus, where documents are checked for those entering the country.

An agreement between Moscow and Minsk concerning the mutual recognition of visas and other issues related to the entry of foreigners and stateless persons into the territory of the Union State was signed on June 19, 2020 in the Belarusian capital.

According to the document, recently ratified both countries, foreign citizens and stateless persons have the right to enter, leave, stay, transit through the territory of Belarus and Russia on the basis of a visa of one of the states and on the basis of identity documents.
