The player of the Moscow basketball club CSKA Alexei Shved was discharged from the hospital. This was reported on May 9 in the press service of the club.
The Swede thanked his teammates and fans for their support. He said he feels much better.
“Thank you for your help, support, it is very important for me and my family. I miss you very much, good luck to the guys in the next games,” the athlete’s press service quotes.
On the night of May 2, Shved was beaten outside a restaurant in the center of Moscow. He ended up in the surgical department of one of the Moscow hospitals with a traumatic brain injury. The President of CSKA previously noted that the athlete would not need an operation.
Four people were arrested in connection with the attack on the basketball player. Three defendants are accused only of hooliganism. Another, who inflicted severe injury on Shved, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm. On May 5, the court arrested three accomplices in the beating of the athlete. the 6th of May another one was arrested, the main defendant in the case. Law enforcement officers detained him on May 5 at the airport when he was trying to leave the Russian Federation.
In the current draw of the United League, CSKA did not reach the final for the first time in history. In the semi-finals, the army team lost to Lokomotiv-Kuban in a series of up to four wins with a score of 3-4. For third place, CSKA is fighting against the current winner of the tournament, Zenit. After two games the score is 1-1. The third game will take place on May 10.
