Russian athlete Aslan Karatsev climbed 68 positions in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Its new version on Monday, May 8, published on the official website of the organization.

Karatsev, who was outside the top hundred of the ATP rankings, reached the semi-finals of the Masters series tournament in Madrid. Due to this, the Russian tennis player made the most significant breakthrough of all in the top 100 of the current list, notes RIA News. Now Karatsev occupies the 53rd position in the ranking.

Serb Novak Djokovic retained the title of the first racket of the world. He has 6775 points. Djokovic has lost 360 ranking points, but is five points ahead of Masters winner Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz with 6,770 points. On the third line of the rating is Russian Daniil Medvedev with 5330 points. He widened the lead over Norway’s Kasper Ruud in fourth place. Ruud has 5165 points.

Earlier, Russian tennis player Aslan Karatsev defeated Chinese Zhang Zhizhen in the quarterfinal match at the Masters tennis tournament in Madrid. The game ended with a score of 7:6 (7:3), 6:4 in favor of the Russian. Thus, for the first time in his career advanced to the semi-finals. However, in semifinal match Karatsev lost to the German Jan-Lennard Struff.
