Hockey club from Kazan “Ak Bars” made an offer for a new contract to Zinetula Bilyaletdinov. Now he is the head coach of the team.
This statement was made by the general manager of the club Marat Valiullin. About this on Saturday, April 29, writes TASS. “We made him (Bilyaletdinov – Profile) an offer,” he said. He did not provide other details.
Bilyaletdinov – Olympic champion in 1984, six-time world champion and eight-time European champion as part of the USSR national ice hockey team. He was the head coach of the Russian national ice hockey team in 2004 and 2011–2014.
From September 30, 2004 to June 2011, Bilyaletdinov served as the head coach of the Ak Bars club. Under his leadership, the team won the “gold” of the championship of Russia and became the first ever winner of the Gagarin Cup of the Continental Hockey League, and then – a two-time winner of the tournament.
On July 13, 2014, Bilyaletdinov again became the head coach of the Ak Bars club. Under his leadership, the team won the Gagarin Cup for the third time. However, he later resigned from his position.
In the summer of 2022, the specialist returned to Ak Bars, having received the position of an adviser at the club. After the resignation of the team’s head coach Oleg Znarok, Bilyaletdinov joined the team’s coaching staff, and on December 27, 2022, he again became the head coach.
