A first grade student was attacked by a pack of dogs near the town of Pevek, Chukotka. The boy is given first aid writes RIA Novosti with reference to the head of the city district Ivan Leyushkin.
According to the official, the dogs attacked the boy outside of Pevek. The first grader was outside the city without adults. The child was taken to the hospital by “accidental witnesses of the incident.”
“The boy was provided with all the necessary primary medical and psychological assistance. At present, the child continues treatment, feels well, nothing threatens his life,” Ivan Leyushkin’s explanation is quoted by the news agency.
The head of Pevek added that employees of the local veterinary station are now trying to catch a pack of dogs. At the moment, this has not been possible. The official urged local residents to ban their children from leaving the city without adults.
According to RIA Novosti, the regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has already begun an investigation into the incident. It was clarified here that the boy received multiple bites as a result of an attack by stray dogs.
This is not the first region of Russia where stray dogs have attacked children recently. In mid-April, a pack of dogs bit a child to death in Orenburg. After that, the head of the region urged to change federal animal trapping law.
